The Weisseritz (the name stands for "wild, fast water"), which splashes so quietly here, made her name on 12.08.2002 all honor, left her current riverbed and flowed in the old riverbed as a century flood through the old town and left a picture of devastation. The original mouth of the Weißeritz was 4.5 km upstream from the present mouth, where today is the state parliament. There you will find information on the flood 2002 on 2 boards.
