Mynydd Machen is part of the hill system that separates the River Ebbe’s valley and the Rhymney Valley in South Wales. It sits at 1,188 feet (362 m) and offers you far-reaching views across Cardiff Bay and the foothills to the north. You’ll find it between the towns of Machen and Risca, and it’s easy to comfortably ascend the hill from either.

Mynydd Machen is a 1,188-foot (362 m) hill in South Wales which affords glorious views over Newport, Cardiff, Steep Holm, Flat Holm, Brean Down, and the Severn Estuary. The summit is marked by the rock 10 feet (3 m) northwest of the trig point.
