In a small forest near Darup is the "forest chapel", inside of which is a miraculous, adorable, life-size crucifix made of sandstone on the tree cross, created by the sculptor (Wilhelm Heinrich) Kocks in 1718.
The chapel is located in the middle of the forest on Daruper Berg between the old country road Coesfeld-Münster (Postweg) and the federal road 525. The cross stands on an altar (calvary) and looks like a mighty tree.

It is like in the fairytale forest on the Hohlweg - Alter Postweg, which leads to the forest chapel. Artists have carved faces into tree stumps watching you in the small "gorge"....
At the small chapel there are benches that invite you to linger and you can light a candle inside...
