For the owners of the former Blex train station building, the Oldenburg architects Herbert (father) and Marco Backhaus (son), the renovation of the 110-year-old Weserschlösschen was an affair of the heart. When the striking building on the banks of the Weser was still a train station, his grandfather worked there. By saving the property from decay, he wants to honor the family's memory. A hotel and a restaurant (weserschloesschen-nordenham.de/) are now operated here.
Blexen station was put into operation in 1905 for the then newly built railway line from Nordenham to Blexen with the ferry connection to Bremerhaven.
