The Hainchen moated castle is a structural testimony to the most varied of epochs in the Siegerland history. It was first mentioned in a document in 1290. Over the centuries, the Hainchen moated castle changed hands several times. It experienced its heyday under the von Bicken family, who owned it for more than 350 years. From 1815, under the Prussian state ownership, the castle gradually fell into disrepair.
Today the Hainchen moated castle is a popular destination. The 33,000 m² park invites you to linger. In the old coach house you can stop off on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The moated castle is the only moated castle in South Westphalia. First mentioned in a document in 1290, the building fell into disrepair until it was rebuilt in the 1970s by the Siegerland Castle Association and the Association for the Preservation of the Hainchen Moated Castle.
