For centuries, the Thüngen noble family determined the history of Zeitlofs and the other villages of the “Thüngenschen Cent”. One of their locks is in Zeitlofs. There is a little more about the story here, for example:

beautiful castle built in 1782 by barons von Thüngen. Before there was a moated castle here. Please respect the privacy of the residents and any prohibition signs. The New Castle in Zeitlofs lost its political importance a few years after it was completed in 1782. In 1803 Bavaria and Hesse began to fight over the Thüngensche Cent. In 1814 Zeitlofs finally fell to Bavaria.

The history of Zeitlofs is closely linked to the von Thüngen family and their domain, the imperial-free "Thüngenschen Cent".
Zeitlofs Castle in Zeitlofs from 1782 was one of the castles and formerly the residence of the Thüngen family.
