The castle was first mentioned in 1144 in connection with the founding of the Jerichow Monastery. After the German reconquest of the area, the Jerichow Castle was expanded with stone. In 1769 the demolition of the ring wall was approved. The material obtained was used to build a so-called silk house. The castle tower was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century. Its materials were used in the churchyard wall. In 1893 the land survey of the Burgstall was leveled and a municipal park with trees was laid out.
