The Christ Church and the rectory were badly damaged in the Second World War.
The chancel was completely destroyed in a bomb attack on September 11, 1944.
The clean-up work began immediately after the end of the war and, depending on the availability of building materials, reconstruction work began in 1947.
The church was restored according to the old plans, but without the side galleries.
The destroyed chancel was given a flat ceiling instead of the former ribbed vault.
The church was consecrated again on September 25, 1949.

In 1883, the then church council decided to build a new building for today's Christ Church. The church was planned and built in the neo-Gothic style. After the appropriate construction period, the first service was celebrated on July 1, 1896.
During the Second World War, both the church and the vicarage were badly damaged. The sanctuary was completely destroyed. Depending on the availability of building materials, reconstruction began immediately after the end of the war. The church was rebuilt according to the old plans, but without side galleries. The second inauguration was celebrated on September 25, 1949.
