Stadtlohn used to be a place of pilgrimage. The Madonna stood in this chapel. After the theft of the Madonna, the pilgrimages were over. Now there is a new Madonna in the chapel.
Church services and weddings take place regularly. The Hilgenberg Chapel is normally open during the day, otherwise an appointment can be made for a visit.
