The "Conneforde ancestral home" is "a forest cemetery for people who are close to nature" - so it says in a brochure. It was founded in 1958 by the ancestral association Conneforde e.V. and is still in operation today. Finding peace and quiet under trees - for many people that is a nice idea. In recent years, the number of natural burials and thus also tree burials has risen sharply. In a tree burial, the ashes of the deceased are buried in the root area of a tree in a forest cemetery. This form of natural burial is possible in every federal state. There are also historical forest cemeteries with old trees, where burials in coffins are also possible.
