In 1733, Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich III. from Mecklenburg Strelitz as the new residential town. The focal point is the one-hectare square market square with its eight-pointed street star. The Mecklenburg-Strelitz master builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel created the plans for the construction.
So that you can get a better picture, it is worth the climb to the observation deck on the tower of the city church. From a height of 45 meters you have a fantastic view of the unique market place and the city. Entry is 1.50 euros.
