The architecture of the Old Port Authority building is characterized by Low German architectural styles, inspired by 17th-century Dutch construction. With this building, the architect symbolized Dortmund's connection to the North Sea coast. As such, the Old Port Authority is one of Dortmund's must-see landmarks. Its architectural details make it a popular subject for photographs – and not just for weddings. Indeed, couples can get married in this iconic building, in the wedding room on the third floor, which can accommodate up to 14 people.
