The Solms Castle is located near the old town of Butzbach, in the Färbgasse. It is essentially a late Gothic stone building and was built around 1481 as an official residence, including the city wall.
Later it was the city palace of the Counts of Solms-Hohensolms (until 1630/31). It houses a magnificent Renaissance staircase from 1588. From 1879 to 2004 this was the seat of the district court.
