The Hubertusquelle was a mineral water spring in the Höllental Valley that once flowed from a crevice on the banks of the Selbitz River. It has since dried up, but its former location is still recognizable by the rust-brown stones near the refuge.

This is where the Hubertus spring emerged from a crevice on the banks of the Selbitz (until around 1950). Like the two springs in Hell, this mineral spring was also a carbonated acid. The spring was visited by many hikers.
