Montreux, the SBB railway station
Montreux railway station was inaugurated in 1860 when the train arrived on the Lausanne-Villeneuve line and then on the Simplon Pass. It was enlarged for the first time in 1871.
With the opening of the Montreux Railway in the Bernese Oberland in 1901, it gained in importance.

The former municipality of Châtelard (Monteux) and the Jura-Simplon Railway Company agreed to build a new passenger station opposite the old one, with the two stations to be connected by an overpass.

The Montreux train station is the largest train station in the municipality of the Swiss city of Montreux. The long-distance and regional train station is served by almost all trains on the Simplon line of the Swiss Federal Railways and is also the starting point for the Montreux – Zweisimmen railway line and on the Rochers de Naye. In addition to its importance in SBB long-distance traffic, a special feature of Montreux station is that it also has three gauges. So the SBB runs on standard gauge 1435 mm. The Goldenpass line Montreux - Zweisimmen on 1000 mm gauge and the line on the Rochers de Naye on 800 mm gauge. If the trip on the Golden Pass to Zweisimmen is a special highlight, then nothing can top the trip up the Rochers de Naye. From the top you have a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva.
