You have to put the whole thing into perspective. Yes, there are quite a lot of children buried here and the cemetery is run by the British Ministry of Defense BUT Wegberg Hospital has had jurisdiction over the entire British Army and their dependents and so the mothers-to-be have also been brought here.
In the course of the decades there were also some problematic cases and so many deceased children come together here.
This was not an incident and nothing special, but still a large number when you see the graves.

When you walk among the graves and read the inscriptions on the tombstones, a cold shiver runs down your spine. A not insignificant proportion of the graves are children, aged 20 minutes and several days.
