The section along the Hortenbach stream below the Hoheberg mountain is one of the most picturesque parts of the Dhünn hiking trail. The path leads you along the water in a relaxed manner. The dense canopy of leaves provides welcome shade, especially on hot days.

Today, the Dühnn is a stream that meanders romantically through the Dühnn Valley. In the past, during rainy seasons, it became a thundering torrent (hence the name Dühnn -> thunder), causing widespread devastation in the valley. Today, the Dühn Dam regulates the water flow.
