For example, you walk through the village of Lüftelberg, which is part of the town of Meckenheim, on the fifth stage of the Roman Canal hiking trail, which leads from Rheinbach to Bornheim-Brenig. It is a small village, but there are a few sights to see on either side of the trail, for example the pretty half-timbered houses on Petrusstrasse.

On the southern edge of the Ville, on the outskirts of Bonn, there is a chain of aristocratic residences, into which Lüftelberg with its moated castle fits harmoniously.
The place owes its name to the popular saint Lüfthildis, who lived in the 9th century and, according to legend, is also associated with Charlemagne. She was the daughter of a lord of a castle and tried to lead a Christian life in hard and troubled times. She has had a significant impact on Lüftelberg life through the centuries to the present day.
