The Catholic Church of St. Apostles is framed by the surrounding houses. The church looks back on almost 1,000 years of history, during which it was repeatedly expanded and rebuilt. The most significant expansion, which is still prevalent today, took place around the year 1200. At that time, construction began on the Romanesque three-conche choir. The church and its interior can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to the cathedral, the St. Apostles Church is the second stop in downtown Cologne on the Rhenish Way of St. James.
