The Große Wendenstein protrudes about 2 meters above the plateau and was therefore particularly suitable as a border marker (Wende = border). It served as a border point between Baden and Württemberg. The street shows carved historical inscriptions as well as the two national coats of arms. "Vorst" and the year "1580" are still legible today.

The Great Wendenstein is an approximately seven times four by two meters large geological natural monument. Beautifully recognizable are the different layers of the middle Buntsandstein, which seem to lie on each other like plates.

The Great Wendenstein is a geological natural monument about seven by four by two meters in size and is located about 50m away from the actual trail, directly on a forest path.
It consists of different layers of the middle Buntsandstein. It served as a border point between Baden and Württemberg. Historical inscriptions and the two state coats of arms are carved into the stone.
