The view from the church tower is very nice - the climb is really adventurous! The ascent cost 1 euro or 0.50 cents (child). The wooden stairs lead through the roof structure, past the clockwork and the bells and end in a very steep and narrow staircase. In the closed spire you can wonderfully enjoy the view over the city and the surrounding area.

The name St. Nicolai comes from Saint Nicholas, the 6th century bishop of Myra. He became very popular in the Middle Ages, among other things as the patron saint of shipping. The name of the church can probably be seen in connection with merchant shipping on the Weser in the Middle Ages.
