Kaiser Wilhelm II had this obelisk erected in the Döberitzer Heide in 1904. The Döberitzer Heide had been used as a military training ground since the 18th century. The monument was originally intended to commemorate Frederick the Great, who is said to have held important maneuvers here for the Seven Years' War.
Today, the obelisk serves more as a memorial against war, for with it, the renaturalized Döberitzer Heide has also regained its peace.

Memorial stone from 1903 for the first military maneuver in the Döberitzer Heide in 1753. Although under monument protection, the condition is very pathetic, and there is no corresponding sign.

The 11.7 m high obelisk was erected by Wilhelm II in 1903 as a souvenir and in honor of King Friedrich II. In 1753, Friedrich II carried out major maneuvers with around 44,000 soldiers near Spandau. The maneuvering area extended between the Havel near Spandau and Döberitz. The Döberitz military training area was established in 1895. The memorial was erected on the site to commemorate Frederick the Great and the autumn maneuvers 150 years ago.
