From Walheim to Kornelimünster always along the Iterbach: There is also a path through the meadows, then you save yourself the bit of road. But there are usually cows standing there and when it's wet the ground around it is pretty soggy and muddy.

In heavy rain, if you don't want to get wet feet, you should avoid the route over the stepping stones through the Iter. Otherwise, this is a good opportunity to get to the other side.
