The black pond is the highest spring on the Kapellenberg. A bog is already forming (raised bog). The humic acid kills all life. The black pond plays a role in the "legend of the white woman drinking" (see pictures).

"The legend of the white woman drinking" is about the black pond (which has gradually developed into a high moor area):
The legend is about a nun from Kapellenberg who appears as a ghost on the adjacent high moor. She is said to have drowned her child there while she was alive and fled to her lover in the Luchsenburg.
