St Margarethen Church Gyhum The church of St. Margarethen, which is almost 1000 years old, is the heart of today's Gyhum. At first it was only a small chapel, which was extended in 1793 to the east. First mentioned in 1384, it is one of the oldest Feldstein churches between the Weser and the Elbe. It bears the name of St. Margaretha of Antioch, the patron saint of peasants and women giving birth. The simple single-aisled hall construction is built in the original western part as a chapel Romanesque and to the west in the 18th century. been extended.
