Mole originally stands for an embankment, a dam that protrudes from the sea. Mostly attached by a concrete structure. Moles often protrude several hundred meters into the sea and also serve as breakwaters and thus protect the port of Norddeich.
The ferry to Norderney and Juist, the Norddeich Mole train station and a restaurant with a sea view, the Norddeich pier, are located directly on the pier. In addition to the pier, junctions lead to the fishing port with the cutters used by the North Sea fishermen.

The Busetief is one of four to five sea spouses that lead from the south to the strait between the East Frisian islands of Juist and Norderney. To the west there is the gully to Memmertbalje and Kalfamergat, to the east the Osterriede and the Legde, to which the Riffgatt adjoins.
