The Düsseldorf casemates form a heavily frequented section of the Rhine promenade in the Düsseldorf old town district. There are several restaurants with year-round outdoor dining as well as piers for the Weiße Flotte Düsseldorf and the Köln-Düsseldorfer. While the term only referred to the underground vaults of a flood protection system that ran there before the construction of today's Rhine promenade, it is now understood to refer to the entire row of restaurants located there, including their extensive outdoor areas.
