Around one kilometer south of Steineroth, the Steinerother Kopf (478m) rises, a basalt dome on which basalt was mined by almost a hundred workers as early as 1880. This makes the Steinerother Kopf one of the oldest basalt quarries in the Westerwald. Today the magnificent summit cross on the Steinerother Kopf is a popular destination for hikers.
