The water scoops originated in the Near East and have been documented on the Regnitz since the 13th century. They are dismantled in September according to the still valid water law and rebuilt in spring (May). In Hausen alone there were more than 30 such scoop wheels. It was the village with the most water wheels in the entire German-speaking area. The tradition of water wheels. Between Schwabach and Forchheim there were 250 such irrigation wheels at the end of the 19th century.

The Stadeln water wheel (water wheel) was constructed at the suggestion of Günter Brand from Stadeln based on historical models, built at a former water wheel location[1] and put into operation on July 26, 1991. According to the old water law, it may only be operated from April 1st to September 30th; in the winter months it is removed and stored. During the summer months it is a popular destination for families and cyclists.
