The weir was damaged by the floods in 2013 and was therefore rebuilt. It is privately owned and is used to generate energy. With the new building, the weir got a fish ladder, so the White Elster is no longer interrupted for migratory fish at this point. There is a lure current to guide them to the fish ladder. The stones in the water slow down the flow rate elsewhere. Quieter zones develop here - good for plants, aquatic animals and water birds. For kids blickpunkt-elster.de/wettbewerb-flusstagebuch
