The first mention of the village of Pławniowice comes from 1317, the second is in documents from 1364, which include the name of Marcus de Plawniowitz as the owner of the surrounding area.
The present palace was erected in the years 1882–1885 (in the place of the existing one from 1737), according to the design of the construction master Konstanty Heidenreich from Kopice. The construction of the palace, which was intended as a family residence, was commissioned by Count Franciszek II Ballestrem.

The palace and park complex in Pławniowice, known primarily as the Ballestrem Palace, is located in the village of Pławniowice, located in the Silesian Voivodeship, in the Gliwice poviat, in the Rudziniec commune. The facility is located at the junction of the A4 motorway with national road No. 40, between Strzelce Opolskie (18 km) and Gliwice (18 km).
