Built from 4.8 million bricks, the Chile House is an example of 1920s brick expressionism inspired by brick Gothic and Expressionism. Due to its outstanding importance for urban change in the 20th century, it was declared a World Heritage Site in 2015.

The Chilehaus in Hamburg's Kontorhaus district is one of the most remarkable buildings in the Hanseatic city. At the beginning of July 2015, the clinker brick building was included in the list of World Cultural Heritage along with the Speicherstadt and the Kontorhaus district.

Stairways A and B are located in the middle of the inner courtyard. Both are worth a look if they are open. Staircase A impresses with the red clinker tiles, while staircase B is lined with light-colored sandstone. Similar in structure, but different in effect.
