The name Vierraden comes from four mills and had city rights in 1265. It was the third smallest city of the former GDR. In the first municipal reform after the turn Vierraden lost the city law and was incorporated into the adjacent town Schwedt. So that the citizens decided positively, the former city hall had been renovated, which then lost the actual function.
