The Prümquelle is a source of puddles in a small wetland in the Arenberg Forest. From here, the Prüm flows in a southerly direction until it flows 90 km later at Minden in the Sauer. What you can hardly imagine at the source: The Prüm is mainly known for its rapids between Prümzurlay and Irrel, where regular kayak competitions take place.

A rather unspectacular place is the source of the Eifel river PRÜM (the name is mainly known from the town of the same name, which even had an imperial abbey in the Middle Ages), but here at the beginning of the river's life it is only a very small trickle.

This is where the Prüm rises before it flows into the Sauer after about 95 kilometers in Minden as the largest tributary.
