"The Elisabeth Church in Marburg is the oldest Gothic hall church in Germany. It was built in 1235–83 over the grave of St. Elisabeth (1207-1231). Because of the grave of St. Elisabeth, the church used to be a pilgrimage church, it served as the grave of the Hessian landgraves and was an important church of the Teutonic Order. Today it is the parish church for services and official acts as well as a monument of ecclesiastical art that many 10,000 visitors see every year. "

The Protestant Elisabeth Church is the oldest Gothic hall church in Germany. It was built in 1235–83 over the grave of Saint Elizabeth (1207–1231).
