The "Helmuts-Eiche" got its name from a forest worker named Helmut. Between 1975 and 1980 the Bachweg from the "iron bridge" to Pfaffenheck was made wider for forestry purposes. While pushing the creek path, he cleared the space around the oak with his caterpillar vehicle. During his break he sat down by the oak and ate his sandwiches. His colleagues, who knew about it, then hung the sign there. The sign was made a few years ago by the "Heimatverein Alken e.V." renewed.

Well, to be honest, I expected more. Here is just a bench without a view. But every great tree starts small. The shield probably protects him from being felled.
Further down in the valley there is another oak with a nicer resting place
