Through the eyes of the mask you look at Nijmegen with a Roman view. Roman soldiers wore the same mask during battles, parades, ceremonies and tournaments. The Face of Nijmegen is a faithful reproduction of the age-old battle mask.

Through the eyes of the mask 🎭 you can get a Roman look at Nijmegen 🧭 (Noviomagus).
Roman soldiers had worn such masks in battles, parades, ceremonies, and tournaments. 🎭
This gigantic Roman mask can be found on the island of Veur-Lent on the north bank of the Waal. The work of art, 6 meters high and 4.5 meters wide, symbolizes the antiquity of the city of Nijmegen.
