Groot Hoenlo is a manor with estate between Boskamp and Olst. In archive documents it is first mentioned in 1233. The beautiful main building, house Groot Hoenlo, has been rebuilt several times over the centuries. What you can see now is the current facade, which dates from 1897 and also the tower from 1904. Harry Mulisch also lived there. In his book "The discovery of heaven" he describes Groot Hoenlo but calls it Groot Rechteren.

Groot Hoenlo is not officially a castle, but it certainly looks that way. However, it must remain a matter of daydreaming, as this area is not accessible. It is rented out as various luxury apartments. The most famous ex-resident? Author Harry Mulisch.

The manor is clearly visible from the public road and is accessible up to the access bridge to the manor house. The manor with grounds is not accessible.

The area around it is accessible during the day. In the immediate vicinity of the access bridge, the rhododendrons bloom profusely in April.
