Prato allo Stelvio is one of the most important municipalities in Val Venosta. The famous Stelvio slope, the toughest with its 48 hairpin bends, starts here, and a good part of the municipal territory is included in the Stelvio National Park.

Prad am Stilfser Joch lies largely in the Stilfser Joch National Park. Particularly worth seeing are the Romanesque church of St. Christina, the church of St. Johann on the outskirts of the town and the Lichtenberg castle ruins. With two campsites and an outdoor pool as well as various guest houses, it is an ideal starting point for holidaymakers on the Stilfser Joch.
