The Romanesque St. Josephskirchlein, one of the oldest in the entire Amberg-Sulzbach district, lies on a hill above the Lohbach valley and Niederärndt. The Romanesque church dates from the 11th century. It is still the only simultaneous church in the Edelsfeld parish, which means that since 1652 it has been owned in equal parts by the Protestant and Catholic parishes. Already in 1305 the church was mentioned as a branch church of Eschenfelden, which it remained until 1816.

The St. Joseph's Church in the Niederärndt district of the Upper Palatinate municipality of Edelsfeld in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria is the only church with a single denomination in the municipality of Edelsfeld. On the Catholic side, the church belongs to the Catholic Parish of St. Stephen, Edelsfeld, and on the Protestant side, to the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Edelsfeld.
