Crossing the Traversinersteg requires a bit of courage, but only a bit. Once you've stepped onto the wooden bridge that's 56 meters above the ground, it's not that bad. On the contrary: it is gigantic. At 70 meters, made of natural stone and pine and larch wood, the suspension bridge connects two crevices in the rock, so that you can save yourself the long walk through the valley (lucky you!).

Today's "second" traversine footbridge was rebuilt in 2005 after the first footbridge was destroyed by a rock fall according to plans by Jürg Conzett. The stair-like footbridge is suspended from two main ropes and constructed in such a way that external girders obstruct a vertical view of the 70 m deep gorge, which is very useful for the feeling of security of sensitive hikers.
