The Old Market was once one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. He formed together with the Steubenplatz the center of the city of Potsdam. The bombing of Potsdam in 1945, the demolition of the remains of the city palace in 1961 and the subsequent overbuilding, especially with extensive traffic areas have destroyed the historic center and deprived the Old Market urban life.

Quirky mix of old and new. I only hope that the old university of applied sciences will remain in place and be renovated as a contemporary witness document. Otherwise, not everything is "historic" here, even if it looks great on photos.
