How the Red House got its name, can be easily recognized by the facade color. The former headquarters of the Scheibler entrepreneurial family is now accessible as a museum and presents the living culture of the bourgeoisie around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Red House in Monschau was built around 1760 by the cloth maker and merchant Johann Heinrich Scheibler and is now a museum. The three-story building, with its striking red facade, combines living quarters and business premises from the historic woolen cloth production. Inside, living and reception rooms in the Rococo, Louis XVI, and Empire styles have been preserved, offering a glimpse into the upper-middle-class domestic culture of the 18th and early 19th centuries. A particular highlight is the cantilevered oak staircase spanning three floors, adorned with carved scenes from cloth production.

The Red House in Monschau, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a former headquarters of the Scheibler entrepreneurial family and is now accessible as a museum, which presents in particular the bourgeois living culture at the turn of the 18th to 19th centuries. The large patrician house was probably built between 1752 and 1768 by cloth manufacturer Johann Heinrich Scheibler. Because of its facade color it is called Red House.
