The Schlappiner Joch at 2,203 meters is located on an old mule track on the border between Austria and Switzerland.
The transition became known among mountain bikers primarily through the Heckmair Transalp, which in 1989 was one of the first documented alpine cross tours from Oberstdorf to Lake Garda.
From the Upper Valzifensalpe (1,838 meters) to the Joch you push or carry your bike for about an hour. Down to Schlappinsee near Klosters it's much faster if you like technical trails.

The pass is deeply saddled between the rugged ridges of Madrisa and the Schlappiner Spitze. The border between Austria and Switzerland runs exactly over the pass. You can recognize that, for example, by the abandoned guardhouse on the Swiss side.

Great transition from Austria to Switzerland. From the Austrian side, the path is "alpine" but easy to walk, on the Swiss side it is quite well developed with sandy soil, held in place by crossbeams.
The customs hut was probably bought privately and also offers drinks from time to time.
