The Stockert rises almost 434 m above the west of the Münstereifel forest. It is easy to spot even for those unfamiliar with the area, as there is a radio telescope with a mirror diameter of 25 m on the top. The astro telescope is Germany's first radio telescope. The former research facility is now a listed building and is now used as an extracurricular learning location.

Nice place for a break. When the weather is clear you can see the astropeiler on the Stockert in the distance. Built in the mid-1950s, the astropeiler was Germany's first radio telescope at the time.

From the bank not far from the outskirts of Bergheim, I have a beautiful view of the landscape of the Northern Eifel. In the distance you can see the radio telescope on the Stockert.
Particularly atmospheric at sunrise ...
