    The Pluto spoil tip in Herne is located directly on the Erzbahntrasse adventure cycle path. In 2014, a five-meter-high viewing platform was opened, offering panoramic views of the region. Over 40 steps lead to the platform, from which one can enjoy the view. The direct view extends to the headframe of the Pluto coal mine. On a clear day, the view reaches as far as the Consol coal mine in Gelsenkirchen, the Ewald mine shaft, and the Hoheward spoil tip in Herten.

    There is a small observation tower at the top. From his pulpit, the view is amazingly wide and practically all around. Nearby, for example, the Malakow tower of the Unser Fritz colliery and the headframe of the Pluto-Wilhelm colliery can be seen. The tailings piles in the Hoheward landscape park, the tetrahedron on the Beckstraße tailings pile in Bottrop, the Consol colliery and the “Horsti”, the sculpture on the Nordstern tower in Gelsenkirchen, are also clearly visible.
