There is also a brick ruin by the pond. Together with the water, this offers a wonderful photo backdrop. The scour was created when a sluice that existed at this point broke during a flood. In January 1920 there was a strong flood. At 4 a.m. on January 16, the lock could no longer withstand the water pressure: the lock and dike were torn away over a distance of 50 m wide. The deep vortex created during this incident created the scouring, which, like the remains of the lock, can still be seen in the area today.
