Cinqfontaines (Five Wells) is home to a former monastery that was built at the beginning of the 20th century. From 1941 onwards, the monastery housed the "Jewish retirement home", although the name actually concealed a collection camp for deportations to concentration and extermination camps. After the war, the monastery was returned to its original purpose before becoming a place of retreat and meditation centre in 1973.

The Cinqfontaines Monastery was built by the Priests of the Sacred Heart in 1903 as a training center for young priests who left for the Congregation's missions in Congo and Brazil.
Between '41 and '43 the monastery was used by the Gestapo as a collection camp for Jews. About 700 Jews would be deported from here.
