The Geotop Lechfall near Füssen opens up a unique natural monument in the Bavarian Alps. Impressively, the water masses of the Lech fed from the Alps plunge twelve meters over five levels into the depths. Below the waterfall, the river narrows and enters the Lechschlucht, which the Lech has dug into the rock over millennia. The Lechschlucht is the only one in the entire Bavarian Alpine region, through which a larger Alpine river can still flow freely and unhindered by human hands.

The Lechfall belongs since 2005 to "Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes" (No.8).

The imposing weir was built at the end of the 18th century and is one of the attractions around Füssen. The bridge over the waterfall, the King-Max-Steg, was built in 1895. In a niche above the gorge is a bust of King Maximilian II.
