Dağ bisikleti
The track here is most likely an old military road, built for military purposes - especially considering the nearby WWI internment camp nearby.
Whatever its provenance, though, it offers a good, solid route through some pretty inhospitable terrain - so even in the worst weather, the going is firm, and (when the weather clears up a bit, admittedly) the views are awesome.

Dağ bisikleti
Also a great gravel bike route and makes a lovely circuit through the forest going either round to Shankend and back along the railway or west and coming out on the single track road back to Hawick
